Synchronicity and Job Search
Synchronicity and Job Search
by Marie King
Most job seekers focus on the disappointments that they have experienced. They put attention on the interviews that never materialized or positions that they interviewed for and didn’t get.
The problem is that they need to keep track of the good things that are happening. Synchronicity, the force that brings desires and life events into alignment, never occurs when someone only looks at the doors that have closed rather than the ones that are opening.
Barbara Sher, who is famous for her books on finding purpose in life, advises her readers to act as a detective. She suggests that individuals scan their homes to identify the clues it gives to their preferences and talents. Job seekers should also review their job search to find out, which positions they wanted and why. By examining their choices, they can see if they are moving towards the future that they envision.
We send out resumes, cover letters, make telephone calls and respond to job listings with the goal of finding employment. However; many times we discover that obtaining work has a random quality about it. It may not be the result of our best efforts. It may actually take place because we have consciously or unconsciously decided, where we want to land in the world of work. Synchronicity happens when the your actions match yourr aim in life.
Many times sorting out goals from needs isn’t easy. The job seeker should make a list of priorities that include salary, benefits, professional growth, satisfying work and an agreeable lifestyle. Often, money is the only consideration, and that limits the job search areas.
Synchronicity only happens when we are flexible. If we restrict ourselves geographically or to a narrow set of skills, we may find more of the doors closing than opening. Synchronicity expands when people open themselves to all possibilities. Investigating a route or an idea doesn’t lock you into a decision. Exploration is an education that helps you find out what’s opportunities are out there. Synchronicity shows you, which path you could select .
